Why do banks and credit unions give low income college students unsecured credit cards without a job? The banks and credit card companies think that the parents are gonna bailout thier son/or daughter if they rack up a lot of debt. Well, some parents will, but some parents are low income and are struggling to make ends meet, thus the banks and credit card companies are preying on low income families.

Got a great credit card through my bank. Has no to little APR and I pay a finance charge of like $8 to $10 a month on it if there is stuff still on it.
Problem is some people believe credit cards are “magic” and that the money on them goes away. Really it’s like an IOU to the company you got the card from.
Tell you right now i’m never getting a credit card from anywhere, but a bank. Getting towards 30% interest/APR is loan sharking.

I agree, best bet is to have a secured credit card, one that doesn’t rob you to sign up. I can load mine up and its my money I’m spending. They WANT you in debt, course their not twisting your arm.

Be careful with pre-paid cards as well. They have OUTRAGEOUS fees. Always read the small print. I have experience in this area.

I stopped using credit cards completely 10 years ago. Buying on credit was the worst mistake I ever made and even 10 years later I’m still in default on both of those 2 cards.

LOL, I agree with you on that. pay your bills on time. Accept the late fee’s as your just desserts for being late, whatever the case may be. IF you misused a credit card before or if you still have a huge debt somewhere else then don’t ask why is my credit limit so and so. Also don’t keep applying for a card hoping you’ll get a higher credit limit, duh it’s credit card not a casino… you won’t automatically hit the jackpot.
